ZOOGABOOG! vs Wix: build it yourself, or have it built?
Wix is one of the best do it yourself builders there is. The tools are genuinely good. The question was never whether Wix can make you a website. It is whether you want to be the one making it, and what you get to keep if you ever leave.
The short answer
Wix is the better buy if you have more time than money and you like building things. As of August 22, 2026, wix.com/plans lists a free plan and premium plans at $17.77 to $159.77 a month, though Wix's own page notes those are yearly rates paid in full up front. ZOOGABOOG! builds the site for you at a published $300, $1,500, or $3,500, with care plans from $25 a month, and every file is yours on any host. A Wix site cannot be exported off Wix.

Sound familiar?
If you have been building your own site, you have probably said one of these out loud.
"I started my Wix site in March. It is now... not March. It is still not done."
With do it yourself, the site is only as done as you are. With us you answer some questions and a designer builds it.
"The price I clicked on is not the price I am paying."
Wix's headline plan prices assume you pay for a full year up front. Billed monthly instead, the entry plan runs closer to $24 (per itechguides.com, August 2026). Our published prices are the price.
"If I ever leave, do I get to take my site with me?"
Wix's own help center says a Wix site has to run on Wix servers and cannot be exported elsewhere. Everything we build you is yours, on any host, even if you cancel.
What does a Wix site really cost, and what do you own at the end?
Wix publishes its pricing, which we genuinely respect, so this one is easy to do honestly. The single thing worth knowing before you read the table: the numbers on wix.com/plans are yearly rates paid in full up front, and monthly billing costs more. All figures checked August 22, 2026. Ours are all on one page: every price we charge is published.
| What matters when you're picking a vendor | ZOOGABOOG! | Wix |
|---|---|---|
| Site built for you by a designer Wix's drag-and-drop editor is genuinely good. It still needs you to drive it. Our tiers depend on scope, and the price is flat and published. | $300, $1,500, or $3,500 | You build it yourself |
| Published pricing Credit to Wix: there is a free plan and every price is published. Read the fine print though. Wix's own page says those rates are for yearly subscriptions paid in full up front. Billed monthly the entry plan runs about $24 (as of August 22, 2026, per wix.com/plans and itechguides.com). | Everything on the site | $17.77 to $159.77/mo, paid yearly |
| No contracts, cancel any month Wix plans carry a 14-day money-back guarantee on initial upgrades (as of August 2026, per wix.com/plans). ZOOGABOOG! has no contracts, ever. | Always | 14-day money-back on upgrades |
| Someone maintains the site for you Updates, changes, and marketing tasks handled by people on a ZOOGABOOG! care plan. | Care plans $25 to $250/mo | You |
| Design quality that does not depend on your skill With DIY, results depend on your taste and your hours. Our designers make those calls for a living. | Designers, all day | As good as you are |
| Print, signs, and apparel under the same account Wix ends at the browser. Your business does not. | Matched by a free Brand Kit | Not part of the platform |
| Marketing help from people Wix ships marketing tools; you operate them. We put humans on the tasks. | Monthly, on a plan | Tools you drive yourself |
| You own your files Everything we create goes with you, even if you cancel. | Every file we make | Cannot be exported off Wix |
| Lowest possible monthly cost to start A real green check for Wix. A brand-new business watching every dollar can do far worse than a $17.77 per month plan (as of August 2026, per wix.com/plans). | Builds start at $300 | Free plan, from $17.77/mo |
When Wix is the better buy
Here is the exact situation where you should close this tab and go sign up with Wix: you have more time than money, you genuinely enjoy tinkering, and being online this weekend for under $20 a month matters more to you than the hours it takes. That is a completely sensible plan, and Wix is one of the best tools in the world for it. The free plan means you can start for nothing.
Wix is also the better fit if you want to be the one making changes. Some owners actually like moving the photo two pixels left at eleven at night. If that is you, paying us to do it would just be irritating.
Where the fit breaks down is ownership and hours. A Wix site cannot be moved to another host, by Wix's own documentation, and if the plan lapses the site reverts to a free Wix subdomain with Wix ads on it. And every hour spent building is an hour not spent running the business that pays for all of it.
Worth a look either way: what a small business website actually costs, AI builders next to a human designer, or how the whole thing works.
Where we actually win
You are the bottleneck, and you know it. With Wix, the site is only as done as you are. With ZOOGABOOG!, you answer some questions, then a designer builds it. $300 for a simple site, $1,500 for a standard one, $3,500 for the works. Published, flat, done.
Design taste is not your job. Our designers make those forty-pixel decisions all day. You get a site that looks professional without ever opening an editor.
The website is not the whole brand. Wix ends at the browser. Your business does not. We do print, design, websites, signs, apparel, AI services, and monthly marketing help in one account, and your free Brand Kit keeps every piece matching.
Maintenance without the midnight sessions. Care plans run $25 to $250 per month. Updates, changes, and marketing tasks handled by people, so "I should update the website" stops living rent-free in your head.
You own everything, always. No contracts, cancel any month, and every file we ever made for you goes with you.
So which one is actually you?
