Cookie Policy

The small set of cookies we use, what they do, and how to change your mind.

Effective date: May 14, 2026

We bake cookies for smoother browsing, not snooping. Today we only set the few cookies required to make ZOOGABOOG! work — sign-in, security, and your cart. No tracking pixels. No advertising cookies. If that ever changes, we'll ask you first via the cookie banner at the bottom of every page.

1. What's a cookie, in plain English?

A cookie is a small text file a website stores on your device so it can remember things between page loads — that you're logged in, what's in your cart, what your preferences are. We also use local storage (a similar technology built into modern browsers). This policy covers both.

Cookies don't contain viruses, can't access files on your device, and can't read other sites' data. They're just small notes a site leaves itself.

2. What we actually set today

Every cookie and storage item below is essential — required to make ZOOGABOOG! function. You can't disable these without breaking core features like sign-in or checkout.

Cookies

  • laravel_session — keeps your visit going across pages, and remembers if you're signed in. Expires when you close your browser; longer if you check "Remember Me" at sign-in.
  • XSRF-TOKEN — a security cookie that protects forms from a class of attack called cross-site request forgery.
  • Authentication cookie — set when you sign in to a ZOOGABOOG! client account; keeps you signed in across pages.

Local storage

  • zb_cookie_consent — records the choice you made on our cookie banner (Accept all or Essentials only) so we don't ask you on every visit.
  • Cart data — if you start a cart before signing in, your selections are kept in your browser's local storage so you don't lose them.

3. What we don't set (yet)

At the time of writing, ZOOGABOOG! does not run any of the following:

  • Google Analytics or other web analytics
  • Meta Pixel, Google Ads, LinkedIn Insight Tag, or other advertising retargeting
  • Heatmaps, session-replay tools, or third-party A/B testing
  • Cross-site tracking of any kind

If we add any of these in the future, we'll update this page and the consent banner will ask you again before any non-essential cookies are loaded.

4. How our consent banner works

On your first visit, you'll see a small banner at the bottom of the page asking what you're comfortable with. You have two choices:

  • Accept all — tells us you're okay with non-essential cookies if and when we add them.
  • Essentials only — only the cookies required to make the site work get set. Closing the banner with the × button is treated the same as "Essentials only."

Your choice is stored in your browser (in the zb_cookie_consent local storage entry). It persists across visits until you clear browser data, switch browsers or devices, or change your mind.

You can revisit and change your choice at any time by clicking Manage cookies in our footer.

5. Third-party services that may set their own cookies

When you use parts of the site that interact with outside services — like making a payment — those services may set their own cookies, governed by their own privacy policies. We don't control these:

Review their policies if you're curious about what they store.

6. How to manage cookies in your browser

Beyond our consent banner, every major browser lets you block, clear, or limit cookies:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and other site data
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and data stored

Heads up: blocking essential cookies will break parts of the site. You won't be able to sign in, place an order, or keep a cart.

7. California residents (CCPA / CPRA)

  • We do not sell your personal information.
  • We do not currently engage in "cross-context behavioral advertising" — we don't run advertising or analytics cookies today.
  • Non-discrimination: we won't penalize you for exercising your California privacy rights, though some site features require essential cookies to function.

If we ever add advertising tools, the consent banner will give you a clear opt-out before such cookies fire, and this section will be updated. For broader privacy rights, see our Privacy Policy.

8. Future changes

This policy reflects exactly what ZOOGABOOG! sets today. As we grow, we may add analytics or marketing tools. When we do:

  • We'll update this page with a new Effective date at the top.
  • The consent banner will reappear so you can re-confirm your choice.
  • New non-essential cookies will be set only after you say yes.

9. Updates to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If a change is material, we'll re-prompt you via the consent banner and update the Effective date above. Continued use after a material change means you accept the updated policy.
